Wægger Negotiation Institute in Myanmar

We are truly thrilled at the opportunity to share our passion for negotiation with the young students of the Youth Leadership Program at the American University of Yangon in Myanmar today.

Being a part of this comprehensive three-week program designed to shape the leadership skills of young individuals is a privilege.

Negotiation is an essential life and leadership skill, not just a skill for the boardroom, but subtly woven into the fabric of our daily interactions, yet often underestimated in its impact on our lives and careers. Whether it’s discussing curfews, making decisions with friends, or planning future careers, negotiation is universal.

Being able to digitally connect across continents and engage with a group of young, vibrant individuals on a topic that is so integral to our daily lives is truly exhilarating.

We had tons of fun when they did the arm-wrestled exercise, and we explored different strategies they had used to get what they wanted. We interacted by doing short exercises so they could test their assumptions and reactions, so maybe tomorrow they would be more equipped to handle spontaneous communication in their life-negotiations.

Engaging digitally with these vibrant students opens a new pathway to explore and demystify the art and science of negotiation.

It’s exhilarating to think about the potential impact of these sessions, fostering a generation of thoughtful, skilled negotiators who are equipped to lead and succeed.
