Francesco Marchi

“The organisational dimension of negotiation in the EU setting”

Francesco Marchi is the director of negotiation expertise at the consulting firm ALTERNEGO based in Paris. Previously, he was director of the “Negotiators of Europe” program of the Institute for Research and Education on Negotiation at the ESSEC Business School.

As team leader of a European consortium providing training on negotiation techniques, he advised and trained various EU negotiation teams (task force Brexit, DG Environment, DG Regio, DG Health). He has trained diplomats in more than 20 countries (Asia, Africa, the Middle East, and Europe) as well as managers of private companies. He teaches a course in European and international negotiation at PSIA (Sciences Po, Paris), at INSP (former National School of Administration), the College of Europe (Bruges), and the Sorbonne University in Paris.

His research focuses on the dynamics of negotiation in the EU institutional system and the application of innovative pedagogical tools for negotiation teaching. A certified mediator with the CEDR (London), he holds a doctorate in political science from the Paris Institute of Political Studies (Sciences Po) and a master’s degree in political science and international relations from the University of Catania.

Silvia Nutini

“Perception”

Silvia is an Italian lawyer and a commercial mediator with significant experience in assisting SMEs in taking their business and strategic decisions.
 
As a mediator, she helped companies deal with conflicts arising mostly from both the execution of commercial agreements and the entrepreneurial generational change. She is a postgraduate in legal aspects of the internationalization of SMEs in the EMEA area. After a period of study and work in the USA and in Tunisia, she developed her career in big Italian law firms where she could apply the negotiation principles and strategies analyzed during her studies.
 
Silvia has been an adjunct professor of negotiation at LUISS University in Rome for the last five years. Her favorite field of research deals with the use of language for effective communication in negotiation. She also had been involved for 15 years in several projects, both domestic and international, in favor of women’s social and business empowerment, conducted by Zonta International.
 
She strongly believes that, in a world full of conflicts, fostering the culture of negotiation, especially in young generations, can pave the way for a better society.

A.J.Jawad

“Communication in negotiations”

Jawad has been a mediator since 2007. He has extensive experience in mediating commercial, contractual, matrimonial, and child custody. He is a trainer with the MCPC, Supreme Court of India, and has trained lawyers and judges in mediation all over India, including Training of Trainers (ToT) workshops. Jawad is empaneled with the SIMC as an India-specialist mediator. He is accredited as a SIMI Level 3 Mediator. He is a panel mediator with the Bombay Chamber of Commerce. 
 
Jawad is also empaneled as an arbitrator with the Madras High Court and the Indo-German Chamber of Commerce. 
 
Jawad works for ADR ODR International, UK, a thought leader in ADR and ODR, as a mediator and global faculty and has been involved in mediation training programs in universities in the UK and India. He has recently joined KDLex Chambers, a firm offering a range of ADR Services, as a partner and Head of ADR Services.

Sophie Giannopoulou

“How Receptiveness adds value to the Negotiation”

Sofia Giannopoulou is a Civil, Commercial, Family and Workplace Mediator Accredited by the Greek ministry of Justice, a UK and Simi Mediator, a Negotiator and Associate Arbitrator. She is the Associate Director and Coordinator of ADR procedures at the European Institute for Conflict Resolution and she is an IMI CMTP appraiser. 
 
As an accredited Civil and Commercial Mediation Trainer, since 2016, she has been working as a trainer in civil and commercial mediation training programs in UK law schools in collaboration with Adr-Odr International. 
 
As a certified International Negotiator (Program on Negotiation, Master Class-Harvard Law School) and associate director at the European Institute for Conflict Resolution, she provides in house conflict resolution and negotiation trainings in companies, financial and educational institutions.
 
As an Accredited peer mediation trainer, she implements peer mediation programs in educational institutions. 
 
She participates as a coach and as a judge in national and international competitions (judge at the ICC Mediation Competition since 2018, at the International Mediation Competition Singapore, at ELSA Norway’s National Negotiation Competition, at the Italian Negotiation Competition, at the Ad-hoc Negotiation Competition Dubai, at the International Online Mediation Competition Adr-Odr International & European Institute for Conflict Resolution, coach at the Peacemakers Conference and co-coach at Singapore International Mediation Competition etc.). 
 
She holds a master from the Faculty of Philosophy at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. She is a native Greek speaker and speaks fluently English and French.
 
Since September 2022, she has been attending the Master Program of Cognitive Psychology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, after successful completion of the entry exams.

Roar Thun Wægger

Moderator

Roar Thun Wægger is the founder & CEO, facilitator, mediator, and trainer at Wægger Negotiation Institute AS (WNI). He established WNI in 2017 after working as a lawyer in the Norwegian Association of Lawyers and the Norwegian Tax Authority. 
 
Roar has his negotiation education from the “Program on Negotiation” PON by Harvard Law School, and mediation education from the Straus Institute at Pepperdine Law School. He is part of the international faculty of ADR-ODR International and a lecturer and assessment censor at UiO. Roar became the first mediator in Norway certified as a Singapore International Mediation Institute (SIMI) accredited civil and commercial mediator as well as a UK-certified mediator.
 
For the last 11 years, Roar has helped ELSA plan the national competition, and judged as well as written several of the roleplays.
