Your next negotiation deserves a rehearsal. That’s why Wægger Negotiation Institute collaborates with DealSharp.
“You get what you repeat.”
— James Clear, author of Atomic Habits
To become a skilled, confident and systematic negotiator, you need to practise. Deliberate learning means rehearsing your approach, reflecting on feedback and repeating with a clear purpose.
DealSharp offers a tool designed to make this part of your negotiation preparation.
Practising before the real negotiation
Wægger Negotiation Institute (WNI) works with DealSharp as a testing partner, helping to develop a tool where realistic counterparts can challenge your approach and specific feedback can help you refine it before entering a real negotiation.
I have tested DealSharp frequently, using both its avatars and strategy chat, alongside several of the platform’s other features.
The avatars feel remarkably realistic and challenge you much like a real counterpart. Afterwards, the feedback highlights areas where you could have asked another question, reframed your message or explored an issue further.
Testing your negotiation strategy
In one preparation exercise, I uploaded documents to DealSharp’s strategy chat. It suggested an opening and explained its purpose, how it might be received and which points could be held back.
It also helped me anticipate different responses. As I added information and adjusted the approach using my own knowledge, the strategy chat revised its suggestions.
The process helped me develop specific questions before considering potential trades, while distinguishing known interests from assumptions. From there, we examined what to offer, what to ask for and why those exchanges might work.
Prepare, practise, reflect and refine
This closely reflects how I teach negotiation at WNI: prepare, practise, reflect on feedback and refine your approach.
That is why James Clear’s words, “You get what you repeat”, are particularly relevant.
I look forward to supporting DealSharp and its founders, Eivind Kjosbakken, Herman Sigmond and Bardh Musichi, through continued testing and feedback.
Before your next real negotiation, make time to practise. DealSharp is a valuable tool for rehearsing, testing your approach and learning from feedback, so you can arrive better prepared.
